THE BEST PERFORMING GOVERNOR  IN CONSOLIDATING THE GAME OF DEMOCRACY THROUGH AGRICULTURAL REVOLUTION
(SEN.ABUBAKAR ATIKU BAGUDU)

It is no longer in contention that Nigeria is going through economic recession, evidenced by many states inability to manage their statutory responsibilities. Yet no nation can shrive without the development of her Agricultural sector. This is a sector of economy that has the capacity to provide employment for over 80% of her population if given the deserved attention. Universally,  the relevance  of food to man's sustenance cannot be over emphasized.

Thus,in the world, nation that are considered as truly great and developed, given earners consideration to Agriculture. In united kingdom, for instance  food is the least of their concerns,as a result of mechanized farming.Hence farmers are well respected and well to do in the clime.

Here in Nigeria,it is however sad that farmers are frustrated and short changed largely because of pitiable access roads, poor transportation system and above are lack of storage facilities.

Thus, over the years ,the practice of Agriculture has been considered a fatal blow. The result is over reliance  on food importation which subsequently depletes our foreign reserves.

But nevertheless the case is different in kebbi state under the leadership of our noble governor, Sen.Abubakar Atiku Bagudu in which the farmers are provided with enabling environments, modern and adequate Agricultural machineries, improved seeds, fertilizers through accessible long term and easily repayable loans.

With the efforts put in place by kebbi state Governor thousand of farmers in the state have seized the opportunity created by central Banks's Anchor Borrowers program to expand rice output.Due in part to the programs perceived success in kebbi, there is now growing hope that the state could become the heart of renewed efforts to make Nigeria a more prominent rice exporter apart from helping to make up for the rice supply deficits in the country.

There is evidence beyond the optimistic talk of rice boom in kebbi state.Traders from kano, maiduguri,Lagos and Ebonyi as well as from neibouring  Countries are buying  rice from kebbi farmers. The growing market for rice and the support from government has encouraged many people to become rice farmers.Everybody is now involved in rice farming with thousand of new millionaires being emerged in the state,as a  result of the support from the government.

If we can recalled on the 1st of august,2017,the vice president  of Nigeria commissions N10 Billion WACOT Rice mill in kebbi state, and and plant offers 3500 jobs with many jobs expected. The WACOT Rice mill which reportedly that largest parboiled rice mill in Africa,is also the first rice plant in Nigeria captive power Co-ogeneration facility.

In a renewed bid to ensure food security/sustainable development .Lagos state government identified kebbi state due to its Agricultural capacity and entered into partnership with kebbi state government with intent of boosting rice production. The partnership is yielding a good results.Outside the food security and economic benefits of Lagos-kebbi Agricultural partnership, other benefits many include introduction of the best Agricultural settlements, improved transportation system such as railway networks which has the capacity to move en-mass without undue interference.

Other benefit of kebbi-Lagos Rice partnership are its capacity to renew investor interest in agro-based industries, boost of agric related cooperative society its among others.

As our nation in confronted with enormous economic challenges, the time to pay adequate attention to the Agriculture is now as it offers unlimited opportunities for accelerated economic and industrial growth across the land.To continue to neglect such a vital sector will cast doubt on our seriousness as a people.

All thanks be to Almighty Allah that kebbi state was given a leader whose main priority is his people and nation development at a whole,it is no longer in contention and all evidence clearly showed that the Sen.Abubakar Atiku Bagudu in leading the nation Agricultural revolution.
